Autumn Favourites!

Hey my lovelies! How are you?

Here are my most reached for products so far this autumn. For once i'll be talking about skincare as well as makeup, because I completely change my skincare routine during the colder months.

Makeup
Topshop eye crayon in Equinox
I'm head over heels for this Topshop eye crayon that was available last year. It was part of their stand-storm collection back in 2011, and my sister actually purchased it but then 'donated' it to me haha. I would describe Equinox as a beautiful champagne cool toned cream eyeshadow that is particularly long lasting on me. I don't use this as a cream eyeshadow all over my eyelids, but instead find it handy to apply in the inner corners on  my eyes. The application is so easy to get into that difficult inner corner eye area, and if applied heavily it creates a beautiful effect. Personally I only find this appropriate for evening makeup, unless you're a little daredevil :)

Stolen from my Instagram, but I'm wearing Equinox in the inner half & lower lid!

Equinox was limited edition, but Topshop makeup can be purchased HERE.

MAC Pro longwear concealer in NC35
OH MY GOD! I can't live without this concealer now! It is the best concealer I have ever used for under eye circles. I usually squirt a tiny amount onto the back of my hand and work the product in with a fluffy MAC 224 brush, and next I dab the product underneath my eyes in a slightly "Kim Kardashian" V shape method. I'll add a piccy underneath for reference, If you're clueless about the Kim Kardashian Kontour effect LOL:

I have been trying many concealers under my eyes for about two years now, and my history with under eye concealers is the Bobbi Brown correcter in peach, which I love but too much of this and it creases and makes me look 10-15 years older. I also used MAC's studio fix concealer for a few months only to realise that it creases and also makes me look old and haggered.

Pro longwear concealer isn't perfect, but it's the best concealer for my under eyes that I've tried. It's very long lasting, and set with Ben Nye's Banana powder makes it budge-proof. I've noticed that it does oxidize which basically means that after a while the colour of the concealer develops an orange cast, which is quite a bum, but luckily I got NC35 which is light on me, so it doesn't affect me too much. Another bummer is the packaging, and I end up using waay too much product because the awful pump basically way too generous. If anyone owns the concealer and feels my pain, there is actually a great solution to this problem where you can just visit your nearest MAC counter and ask for a sample bottle whilst explaining your issue with the pro longwear bottle. After you get the sample bottle you can use bottle instead which will save so much product!
Lastly, on me sometimes the concealer feels tight around my eyes, and I'm not sure why this is so. It is mildly uncomfortable on sensitive eyes (but worth it, as I'm eye bag-less LOL)

Skin care
Lush Skin Drink Cream
With my severely dry and dehydrated skin, I was eagerly looking for an extremely moisturing face cream. Then I popped by my local Lush store, and fell in LOVE when i tested a bit of skin drink. I've been using it every day for about a month, and I've noticed how much better my skin looks, and it's probably due to the ingredients such as avocado and sesame oil. I'm proud to say that I no longer have to race from the shower to my room to slather face cream on before my skin starts to tighten and feel sore. I have noticed that with most moisturisers that it needs to set for about 5 minutes before it no longer looks oily on your face/hands. If you have normal skin but enjoy applying a thicky heavy face cream on at night, then I would certainly recommend this.

Skin Drink can be purchased HERE.

Jojoba Oil as eye makeup remover
BEST remover for eye makeup! I usually grab a cotton ball and slightly dampen with lukewarm water, and then add a few drops of pure jojoba oil and place gently on my eye for about 20 seconds. Afterwards using the cotton ball I gently wipe away from my eyes. I repeat this process 2 more times, especially ensuring to get all the mascara out my eyelashes. Jojoba doesn't make you break out, so don't worry you won't get eye acne!
You can find Jojoba oil anywhere from Tesco to Holland & Barrett.

Clarisonic MIA
Allow me to conveniently use copy & paste: "The Sonic Skin Cleansing System uses a patented sonic frequency of more than 300 movements per second to clean, soften and smooth skin. In just 60 seconds, the brush gently, yet thoroughly removes 6X more makeup and 2X more dirt and oil than manual cleansing alone. Removing these impurities has been shown to allow a 61% better absorption of Vitamin C, and better prepares skin for other products"

After all these months of owning a Clarisonic I have finally reached my verdict! Although these little exfoliating machine suggests that you can use it twice a day, I actually only prefer to use this every 3 to 4 days. If I am wearing foundation every day, then I will definitely use the Clarisonic every day to ensure every speck of foundation is removed. The brush head that I've been using is the sensitive version, and despite that I do find it a little harsh  on some areas of my skin ( I don't apply any pressure at all). Unlike some people, I haven't experienced any severe breakouts thank goodness, but I do like this product to buff away any dead skin cells and to completely remove anything on  my face.

I have actually removed the outer rim of the brush, as I personally found the brush size a little tricky to exfoliate areas around my nose and I certainly prefer it this way.
The Clarisonic MIA can be purchased HERE.

Movies & TV shows

My favourite movie this month is 'The Perks of being a Wallflower', with Emma Watson. I really really enjoyed this movie and urge everyone to watch it! I've just seen Taken 2 and thought I would probably prefer that more, but it certainly doesn't compare to how amazing The Perks of being a Wallflower is.  This movie really moved me and I've been begging my friends to watch it, LOL!
As for TV shows I'm addicted to Styled to Rock, which is a show in which some extremely talented UK amateur designers have the potential to design an outfit for Rihanna, but face weekly challenges and evictions. Watching the designers create their outfits from scratch really inspired to try and make my own outfits! Maybe one day...

What are your autumn favourites so far? Have you been to the cinema lately? Have you heard about Styled to Rock? Do let me know in the comments!

    1. Hi Maryam! Make sure you try ask for a sample size before you purchase, as it may not be for you. Also I heard that it's better to get the NW concealer range for under eye circles instead of the NC, so I would ask for samples of concealers in your shade in both the NC and NW shade. Good luck! x

It's paraben free which is great but I really love the colours. You should check out the fall line. I get all of my colours on this site: www.motivescosmetics.com/ignite
