Mermaid Blue

Hello everyone!!

Today's post is going to be a on a summery blue tropical  look I did a few weeks ago. My awesome friend Saahil is an amateur photographer and since I'm an amateur makeup artist, we decided to collaborate for fun! I had tons of fun and also learnt some awesome photography tips. I will be investing  in a Canon SLR in the near future now, woohoo!!!
Below are some makeup pictures that I did for the shoot.

I'm sure you can tell which photos are Saahil's, haha! The first few pictures from above were taken after the shoot, and I decided to change my inner corner colour as my MAC glitter eyeliner was flaking off and was too old :(

Makeup Breakdown:
Eyes
- Mac's Painterly paint pot as an eyeshadow base
- A combination of both matte blue shades from Sleek's Chaos palette
- Nars eyeshadow in 'Tropic' buffed on top of the Sleek shadows
- Matte black eyeshadow from Sleek's Chaos palette used in my outer corner and blended
- Mulch eyeshadow by MAC placed above the matte black for an easier transition
-Texture eyeshadow by MAC  placed on top of Mulch to warm the brown shade up further.
-Brulee eyeshadow by MAC as a browbone highlight.
- Barry M dazzle dust in #16 in inner eyelid  (in first few pictures)
- MAC glitter eyeliner in Lime Dandy in inner eyelid (last few photos with Saahil)
- MAC eyelashes in #7
- MAC pearlglide eyeliner in Undercurrent underneath lower eyelid
- MAC eyeliner kohl in smoulder on waterline and lash line.

Face
- MAC Matchmaster foundation in #5
-Benefit pore-fessional face primer
- Nars Laguna bronzer
- Sleek blusher in Sunrise

Lips
-  MAC lipstick in Blankety
- Random clear lipgloss, hehe

And there you have it! It can be quite daunting to wear colourful eyeshadows, so I decided to really smoke the look out by adding black and  brown in the outer corner, which incorporated a little more depth  into the shadows and made it a little more glamourous evening-esque. I really feel like the MAC eyeliner in Undercurrent pulled the look together and will be doing a whole separate post on my Holy Grail eyeliner!

Thanks again to Saahil for the amazing shots! Be sure to check out his photography website S Hill Photography. He is on the lookout for anyone in London who is in need of a photographer for any reason, and is willing to work for free for the time being :). I recommend him to you all if you're interested.

Thank you so much for reading my blog! I hope you all had a relaxing bank holiday.

Birthday Makeup - Purple Haze

Hey everyone!
I turned 21 a few weeks ago and managed to get a few snaps AFTER my birthday dinner (I always forget to take pictures beforehand!), but I used a few purple eyeshadows from the Sleek Graphite palette. As per usual I played around with different lipsticks and particularly enjoyed how my new addition to my lipsticks, Nars Schiap complimented the cool purple shadows on my eyes. My awesome friend gifted me Schiap for my birthday, so thank you Lala  if you're reading this! <3 <3

Eyes:
  • I applied MAC's painterly paint pot onto my lids with my finger
  • Then with a MAC  219 pencil brush I applied a bit of MAC's eyeshadow in Amber Lights to the inner corners of my eye
  • Using a MAC flat 239 brush, I patted the deep purple shade from Sleek's Graphite Palette.  I created a slight wing effect, applying more shadow onto the out corners of my eyes.
  • Using a MAC 219 pencil brush again, I went underneath my eyes with the same purple shade from Sleek.
  • To blend everything together I used an eyeshadow from MAC called Mulch. It's a nice bronze colour with a bit of shimmer that blends well. I applied this to my above my crease area, following the same angle as before to create a cat eye.
  • Using the black matte shade from the Sleek Graphite palette and a MAC 217 fluffy brush, I deepened the look a bit by smoking everything out.
  • Using the same matte black and a MAC angled brush 226 brush, I created a line near my lash line.
  • For the purple glitter, I used DUO eyelash adhesive firstly to apply on top of the first 1/3 of my eyelids. Next I grabbed my glitter (unbrand and un-named, I've had it for ages...Sorry!) and patted it onto my eyelids. Any glitter fallout was removed with sellotape :)
  • A few coats of Dolce & Gabbana mascara in Secret Eyes and wa-la!
Face:
  • For foundation I used Bobbi Brown's luminizing foundation in 4.5 (this shade is too orange on me, however :/)
  • For concealer, I used Bobbi Brown's corrector in peach under my eyes
  • To highlight I used Sleek's GLO highlighter and sweeped the lightest shade over my cheekbones and browbone.
  • To contour I used Sleek's GLO highlighter, but the darkest shades onto the hollows of my face.
Lips:
  • For the first two pictures, I am only wearing Nars lipstick in Schiap
  • The last two pictures I applied a bit of MAC's lipliner in Cherry on top of Schiap. Shiap is quite a drying lipstick and so is Cherry lipliner, so it works out to be too difficult to apply the liner first and blend. Instead apply the liner after and use a lip brush to marry everything together :)

I wore a nude lip out for dinner as I didn't want to worry about touch ups, but it photographed terribly and I wanted to do something that was a little more eye-catching. Perhaps this can be a nice makeup look for someone who loves bright colours all round, or maybe a carnival themed event? Either way, I hope you enjoyed my birthday look!

What is your current favourite lipstick? I'd love to know in the comments box :)
